The Stowe public schools and the Mt. Mansfield Ski Club team up to offer tutoring and midweek training for the student athletes. This program, the Mt. Mansfield Academy Tutorial, was formed in 1984 to allow local ski club athletes to train during the week.
Through the combined efforts of committed public school staff and faculty, parents and ski club coaches and staff, midweek training for student athletes is available beginning in first grade up through the U14 age group. Depending on the age level, students are able to ski between two and four afternoons during the week. Participating students must meet specific grade requirements, which are monitored regularly by school staff. They fulfill their required school attendance hours by getting tutored by their teachers after school on days when they are not skiing.
For athletes that continue to find a passion for ski racing, the tutorial program can be wonderful gateway to Mt. Mansfield Winter Academy, which offers academics for students beginning in the seventh grade. For additional information, please contact Junior Program Head Coach, Micheline Lemay.
