In our most popular program, the emphasis is placed on building strong skiing technique and an introduction to ski racing. Other goals include learning about good sportsmanship and instilling a positive team spirit. Group skiing is done in small groups of 8-10. Participants must be able to ride the lift alone, put on their own equipment, and ski confidently. Participants will be grouped by ability and will rotate through the different coaches weekly. Typical equipment needs for this group includes a helmet (not with soft ears) and one pair of Slalom race skis; back protection is encouraged. Typically, the proper size for Slalom skis is approximately to the bridge of the athlete’s nose.
The U8/U10 Weekend Program meets Saturdays and Sundays from early December to late March. Participants must be able to ski challenging trails such as Nose Dive (easier black diamond runs). The Weekend program includes training during Christmas and February school vacation weeks, and on Friday afternoons from January to late-March (60 days on snow!). U10 athletes are also invited to participate in additional training through our Tuesday afternoon program (up to 75 total days on snow!). Vermont Alpine Racing Association (VARA) establishes a schedule of four or five races throughout Northern Vermont. Attendance at these Giant Slalom (GS) and Slalom (SL) races is optional, but highly encouraged for our Weekend Program athletes.
Participation in this program requires VARA & USSA Competitor Memberships.
The first day of all Junior Programs is Saturday, December 3, 2022.
Tutorial and Friday Programs begin Tuesday, December 6 and Friday, December 9, respectively.
Due to the growth of the Weekend Programs we will no longer be offering the Saturday Only Program.
