Board of Directors

Terry McNabb – President
Terry McNabb has a business background with a degree in Business Administration from Saint Michael’s College. He cofounded and ran three different companies during his career. Since moving to Stowe in 2007, Terry has consulted for his old company and volunteered for two primary organizations – the Stowe Education Fund raising money for the local schools and Mt. Mansfield Academy. Terry is an avid skier who participates in the local ski bum race series each winter. Terry’s two children have been participants in MMA’s programs – his son as an athlete and his daughter most recently as a coach. When Terry decided to move his family to Vermont, his goal was to choose the best place where he could raise his children. He has not been disappointed.

Andrew Arnott – Vice President
Andrew (“Drew”) Arnott is the President & CEO of John Hancock Investments.  He was raised in Andover, Massachusetts by parents that immigrated to the United States from Scotland in 1967.  While his parents did not grow up with an understanding for the sport of ski racing, the Scottish Highlands were in their blood and they did not mind supporting Drew’s passion for the mountains.  Growing up, Drew skied the White Mountains of New Hampshire and enjoyed racing alpine, eventually racing for Boston University where he captained the team for two years.  His self-described “undistinguished” ski racing career came to an end upon getting his undergraduate degree in business.  While banging gates became a fading memory, he never left the mountains.  Between graduate school and later starting a family with his wife KC, he committed every free weekend to the long drive north from Boston to the great state of Vermont, eventually buying a home in Stowe.  Drew and his wife KC have two daughters, Emily and Mackenzie, who grew up at MMA.

Ashley Grove – Secretary
Ashley Grove began skiing at Stowe at an early age. In the 1960s her parents and their friends began driving north every weekend from Hartford, CT, and the tradition continued when children came into the picture years later. Ashley developed a love for the mountains and the people in this part of Vermont.  After living in Atlanta and Boston for a number of years, she made the full-time move to Stowe in 2012. She’s served as a J5/6 and U12 coach, taught Finance at the Academy, and has experience in the ski service industry. Ashley’s professional background is in management consulting, she holds a BA from Colgate University and and MBA from Cornell University, and she currently works as a Human Resources Business Partner at Stowe Mountain Resort.

Sam Gaines – Treasurer
Sam is a Managing Director of AIG Global Real Estate Investment Corp. and serves as President of Mt. Mansfield Company, which owns various real estate and hospitality assets throughout Stowe, including Spruce Peak. Originally from Hamden, CT, Sam reconnected with his Vermont skiing roots when he moved to Stowe in 2011 with his wife Molly. Now with three children: Theodore, Lois, and Beatrice; Sam is active in both local and national organizations, serving as a Director of the Stowe Land Trust and as Vice Chair of the Urban Land Institute Recreational Development Council.  Sam holds a BA from Pomona College and a MS from New York University.

Tad Davis
Tad has three children: Faye, Lulu & Teddy. They love skiing together as a family in Stowe and Montana! Growing up in Vermont, Tad began his ski racing career at MMA, went on to race for Boston College and continues to make appearances at the local Ski Bum races here in Stowe. Tad and his family split their time between the mountains of VT and the suburbs of Boston. When he is not in the woods or on a trail, Tad is busy running his distribution company, Davis Family Deli Provisions.

Ryan Heraty
Ryan has an education background and currently serves as a superintendent of schools. He has extensive experience collaborating with teachers and administrators to develop systems that significantly improve social, emotional, and academic outcomes. His greatest strength is helping schools create a robust collaborative team process that prioritizes learning goals, recognizes teachers as content experts, and addresses the needs of all learners. He has served in the role of special educator, teacher, and principal with experience at all grade levels. Prior to moving to Vermont, he served as a principal north of Boston, Massachusetts. He holds a B.S. in Business Management from the University of Colorado, a M.Ed in Special Education from Gordon College, and an Ed.S in Educational Leadership from Gordon College. Ryan is scheduled to start his Doctoral degree in Education at the University of Vermont in the fall of 2022. He moved to Stowe along with his wife Eva (Pfosi) Merriam in 1989 from Sugarloaf in Maine after a stint at Colby College. “I was enrolled in the Pre-Med program,” recalls Dave, “but the call of the snow was so overpowering that I put those plans on hold, and never looked back. I skied on the US Demo Team from 1984 to 1995, and I was the head coach from 1996-2004. Following being named to the Demo Team”, say’s Merriam, “colleagues encouraged me to move west to maximize my opportunities.
